I had heard much about the Callaway Berthas before I actually decided to order them. A lot of people talk about them regularly so I was eager to actually use them. Callaway have been making these Berthas for many years now and they have always managed to stand the test of time up against newer and more technologically advanced Hybrids. When they finally arrived the first thing I noticed was that they look pretty good. The shaft is all-black and the red marking at the end looks great when you swing.
Having said this, looks aren’t everything, and I hastily booked the first game I could. When I swung these for the first time I was pleasantly surprised. They hit the ball very decisively and you can put as much power behind the ball as you want. In many ways, I would say that this is the biggest advantage of the Berthas. If you are looking to increase your swing power with the irons then these are an excellent set.
Although they are powerful, they are also accurate. The Berthas are less forgiving than clubs such as the Mizuno MX-200 but they still don’t require 100% perfect precision on every shot.
The only real downside that I found with these clubs was the feeling. When you hit it just doesn’t seem quite as smooth as some of the others. Having said this, your ball will be on target. Some clubs feel absolutely great until you look up to see where your shot lands.
In conclusion, if you are looking for some more power without losing out on accuracy then the Callaway Berthas are an excellent choice of iron produced by a very respectable brand.
